Moving Out Checklist

Dear tenant,

We hope you have enjoyed a pleasant and comfortable stay with us!

Below you will find a video that clearly and simply explains what needs to be done in the move-out inspection.
We’ve also included a helpful checklist to guide you through the moving process.

General

  • Empty all trash and recycling.
  • Return any borrowed furniture to its original location.
  • Empty and sweep the storage unit.

Bedroom

  • Make sure there are no personal belongings left in the room.
  • Clean the room thoroughly—don’t forget to move furniture to clean behind and along all baseboards.
  • Carefully inspect walls, floors, and ceiling for any damage.
  • Remove any stickers or tape from walls, doors, or furniture.
  • Check that windows and doors are functioning properly, including the door lock.
  • Ensure all power outlets and switches are working correctly.
  • Make sure the heater is plugged in and set to 15 degrees Celsius.
  • If there is a wall vent in the room, it should be left in the open position.

Shared Areas

  • Clean the sink and countertops.
  • Clean the exhaust fan/vent hood to remove grease. See tips here.
  • Scrub and clean the stove and oven glass. See tips here.
  • Clean out and empty the refrigerator and freezer.
  • Defrost the freezer. See tips here.
  • Clean your drawers and cabinets.
  • Vacuum and wash the floor.
  • Make sure to remove all personal belongings from shared areas or storage rooms.
  • Inspect walls, floors, and ceilings for any damage.
  • Check that all switches and power outlets are functioning properly.
  • Ensure windows and doors are working correctly.
  • Furniture belonging to the unit must be complete, undamaged, and in place.
  • Any items listed in the unit’s inventory list (e.g., bed, table, etc.) must be present and undamaged.
  • Make sure power outlets and light switches are working properly.

Bathroom

  • Clean the toilet bowl—under, over, and behind the toilet.
  • Wipe down the sink and countertop.
  • Clean the shower, including walls, doors, and grout.
  • Clean the bathroom mirror and any glass or steel surfaces.
  • Empty and clean the shower drain. See tips here.
  • Scrub the bathroom floor.
  • Don’t forget to take all your personal belongings with you!

Outdoor Areas

  • Make sure to take all personal belongings with you.
  • The garden, balcony, or outdoor area must be tidy and cleared.
  • If you are renting an apartment with a veranda, the drain(s) and/or gutters must be cleaned and rinsed.
    Remember to check under the decking boards if they can be lifted.

Fee Overview

Key Fees

Loss of system key (main door, room/apartment): NOK 1,500
Moving out without returning keys: NOK 3,000

Room Cleaning

If the room/apartment and shared areas are vacated without sufficient cleaning and tidying, the tenant will be charged NOK 100 per square meter, with a minimum charge of NOK 2,000.

Other

Costs for abandoned furniture, trash, etc., will be invoiced per hour used at NOK 850 plus disposal fees.

If there is wear and tear on fixed inventory beyond normal aging, the tenant will be charged for replacement costs.

If the room or apartment needs painting or other repairs due to damage, indoor smoking, or wear beyond normal aging, charges will be based on subcontractor pricing plus an administration fee of NOK 500.

If the case is transferred to debt collection, collection fees will be charged in accordance with the regulations of the Debt Collection Act §§ 2-2 and 2-3.
